7:18 pm. The days are very long now, alone without her. A long trail of hurt has come to this moment, this end. And now the final word has been said. My large empty apartment is cold, and yawning. Memories lurk around every corner, and I still can't believe she's gone.

Don't run from the pain, for some pain is the only useful teacher. Sadly I am one of those. I had a beautiful wife, a wonderful life but I lost it all. I have no excuses for my behavior. Let me start here.

Thinking about getting back into comedy. I have a stand up friend here, and he is pretty good, kind of gets me interested again.

The MRI did not have the last word,

It's been good since Kick-Ass came out that more people are vocalizing that they aren't that impressed with Mark Millar and his "In Yo Face Attitude" (trademark).

You should. We've been around forever. Since the first human's heart beat for the first time; in that electrical current, the first of us jumped from host to host. Family to family. Generation to generation. Sins of the fathers fall on the sons, after all.

We all call Ben Franklin our Modern Grandfather. He opened up electricity for us all--why do you think it was a key on a kite? Oh yeah. All part of the plan. It was our biggest break since the opium trade. Europe just wasn't as open as the Caribbean as a culture, where there the loa's had their pick, the Westerners needed...inspiration. A key.

We began to call that frequency, the drug-altered state of human brainwaves, Epiphany. It was the place where the human brain harkened back to its primal intuitive state; and so we are able to travel more freely.

Just who are we?

We've forgotten. But they say we once had our own City. We destroyed ourselves in our quest for pure ideas. So we wander and haunt the creative amongst you.

I mean, really, have you ever met a "sane" artist.

We are the muses that lurk at the edges of your sleep and blur your waking hours.

We are your dreams drawn brighter than your daylight.

We are your ancient and future selves.

We are potential.

So drink up, kid. We have a lot of work to do before the sun comes up.

So the long gestating comic that I've been working on with my wife is going to have to undergo a name change as Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev are doing a comic of the same name.

So our Scarlet will henceforth be called The Pimpernel.

I'm gonna miss that old title.

Best Forgotten President

It's easy to remember Washington. Lincoln is unforgettable. There's half a dozen other Presidents who are seared on to our collective consciousness. But what about the forgotten or overlooked ones? What President doesn't get the props he deserves?

I have to give my vote to James K. Polk. Why Polk? He gave us the western part of America through the Oregon territory and the Mexican Cession, by winning a war with Mexico and avoiding one with England. Not to mention he lowered tariffs to encourage trade and established an independent treasury.

Sure that's impressive work, but other Presidents might've done more or better. But what gives Polk the go-ahead in my book. Is that he did all of that in his first term and then decided not to even run for a second term because he'd already done what he promised during his campaign. One and done? That's just style.
