James Telford Porter is better known as the Vanisher. That's to anyone who knows him. Most people don't. A low-level supervillain, the Vanisher has knocked around a couple of places but never found his higher calling. Well, that calling has just been thrust upon him. A gambler with large debts, he finds out that his marker has been bought by none other than the most feared mobster in all of New York: the Kingpin. Now, the Kingpin wants the Vanisher to pay off his debt and if he can't, then the Vanisher will work it off by performing tasks against a threat to the Kingpin: the deadly Foreigner. But while the Vanisher thinks it's a one-off deal, it turns out that he has just signed up for a tour of duty.
