This is the Cowboy's Story. Growing up, he always wanted to be a cowboy; perhaps something was wrong with him, you know, mentally. He wanders far and wide settling disagreements with violence, even at the cost of love. Thinking he has fought for peace, he instead realizes that he has helped create a world full of cowboys, and there will never be peace.

We get a lot of music through these parts, and it often comes at a strange angle of flight, much like this collection of will smith ditties filtered through a band of traveling gypsies. Added a little bit of joy in my busy day. Hopefully it brings the same to you. I've been humming bits of this all week since it was beamed onto the island.

Magic 8 Ball Optioned As Basis of Film

Can one make a decent film involving a magic 8-ball? Not impossible. But this isn't a script about a magic 8-ball, wherein filmmakers then decide to get permission from the toy company. They got the rights to the object first. Because there's an enormous built-in audience clamoring for whatever movie one might becide to build around the storylicious Magic 8-Ball.

I suspect that somewhere in West Los Angeles, a bunch of studio execs are trying to one-up each other on who can option a property with the least amount of story possible. And the "Stretch Armstrong" and "Battleship" guys thought they had it on lock... they owe this dude a lot of money. Magic 8 Ball.

What's next when people start making movies based on fucking objects? Lite Brite? Slinky? Speak'n'Spell? Spam? Monster Cables? Pyramid Hefeweizen? Sennheiser Headphones? Clever Coffee Mug: The Move?

The thing that isn't surprising to me is that virtual worlds, which share with dreams the sense that the things you're doing are compelling, that there is an order to them that makes them meaningful, can take over one's real life. What is surprising to me is the way that this soup of 6 billion beings can give rise, constantly, to situations which possess such symmetry in their narrative.

I have an improved version of the 001: ASTRONAUT sequence, as well as 002: COWBOY in the wings. But I need to find a better way of hosting these than Soundcloud, which has pretty severe limitations in its free version, and Mixcloud, which never got back to me with an activation email (!). They are here, but will in the meantime...

deeper into the forest. He finds more than he bargained for. The
