The thing that isn't surprising to me is that virtual worlds, which share with dreams the sense that the things you're doing are compelling, that there is an order to them that makes them meaningful, can take over one's real life. What is surprising to me is the way that this soup of 6 billion beings can give rise, constantly, to situations which possess such symmetry in their narrative.
